Organizing Your Garage Ideas

What does the inside of your garage look like?  Are you running out of space to store everything else but your vehicle?  Then we have some tips to help you organize and free up some space to park your vehicle in the garage where it should be residing in the first place.

“75% of garages had no room to store a car”,  according to a study conducted by the Center on Everyday Lives of Families at the University ofCalifornia,Los Angeles.

Worcester Door Company has seen it all.  From unbelievable cluttered to superbly well organized garages.  Here are some tips to help you utilize your garage space to the max.

The clutter must go:  The first step is to determine what must go by asking yourself a couple of questions.  When was the last time I used this?  Do I need it?  Based on your answers you need to get rid of the unnecessary items by donating them to charity, list them on Ebay, Craigslist or just host a garage sale.

Measure around your car:  The second step, once the garage is empty, is to pull your car into the space and mark the floor on all sides.  These markings will help you to determine how much storage room you have for items other than you vehicle.

Separate and group similar items together:  Sort your items and then make categories like sporting gear, gardening supplies, tools, etc and then decide which area of the garage should be used to store each category.   Once you have designated the spaces for each category, the organizing will be much easier and finding the items when you need them will be a breeze.

Take Advantage of Vertical Wall Space:  By installing cabinets, pegboards, free standing shelving units, and storage racks you will be able to keep items from piling up on the floor.  Even overhead storage can be another way to utilize ceiling space.

Have fun organizing!
